*sigh*

My blogging muse has deserted me.
As has my reviewing muse.

This is partly because I'm tired and partly because I've got guests at the moment and when I was at the peak of my daily blogging potential, I had to shut down the lap top, be nice and make small talk.

So there's nothing interesting to see here today, but do call back tomorrow when I am going to be reviewing the Petit Morts anthology featuring stories by Jordan Castillo Price and Josh Lanyon and there will also be an opportunity for two lucky winners to grab a Petit Mort for themselves - how exciting for you!

Anyway, in order to appease you all, especially Tam who seems to be a tad obsessed with the Winter Olympics at the moment - not that I'm at all bitter about the fact that we haven't managed to score a medal yet or the fact that our best hope for a medal - the curlers - lost to Sweden yesterday, here's an Olympic hottie for you.

Apparently he's a US skier called Bode Miller.

  1. hmmmm...I had no idea that skiers "shot" snow. All that time in the cold I guess. :)

Hope your muse comes back soon honey...or your guests leave, whichever comes first. lol

  2. Ha, Tracy.
I didn't even notice that which must prove that I have a mind as pure as the driven snow (ahem) and you........don't :).

The muse will be back tomorrow or I'm withdrawing chocolate rations.

  3. Hmmm. It does kind of look like he's shooting snow. LOL Thanks Jen. We are truly obsessed in my house. We have three TV channels here that carry the Olympics 24/7. Okay, one of them stops for a half hour during the news hour around 6:00 but otherwise we find ourselves flipping from channel to channel depending on the sport, whether a Canadian is involved or whether it's the final for something. Craziness. Of course we are up way too late as well because 9:00 at night out there is midnight here. LOL Oh well, only for two weeks of madness.

Enjoy your company. I bought the Petit Morts books (damn, should have waited LOL). I'm looking forward to them but it's hard for me to focus on a new book and watch sports at the same time so I've been rereading some books while watching. Easier on the brain.

  4. I completely understand, Tam. We're about like that in our house during Wimbledon fortnight and also during the summer Olympics. We're not so bothered about the winter Olympics because in general winter sports aren't a big thing here, except maybe for the ice skating/dancing :).

  5. Enjoy the evening off...

I am ashame to admit - I have no interest in the Winter Olympics *** please don't tell Tam**

Anything else and I will peek - tennis, golf, cricket, Darts even the dreaded football...

But no Olympics - I am hoping to perk up for 2012...

    Happy evening my dear...

    Darts?!

I used to watch darts with my gran and grandad when I was a child. I don't think I've watched it since :).

We're not huge sports fans in the house, although I am quite partial to snooker and tennis. Hub would watch more sport than me if he ever managed to get near the TV but he has to fight the kids over TV watching rights and he usually loses :).

  7. I have the same problem at home...

I just go with the flow so my varied interest or I record the programme - One son is none contact sport - so the darts, chess, video games and such while the other is about the rough and tumble - football, cricket, hockey, tennis...

Half the time my kitchen looks like a mine field of sport equipment...

Oh the joys of grown kids... Can't wait..

  8. Sigh. I'll let it go EH. ;-)

I know that some sports are tied up with national identity and if you don't grow up with that it really means nothing. I could care less about tennis, but it's not a sport that is played much in Canada (or darts LOL) and don't ask me the rules of cricket. For us, snow and Canada are synonymous and while I've never done luge (ack!) or speed skated, I do skate and I have skiied.

Ha! Word veri: suffer What some of those poor snow boarders do when they face plant in the snow. LOL

  9. Lol, Tam has us all blogging about the Olympics. I did it yesterday, but only because 'our' Sven won a medal :)
What country are you from, Jen?

  10. I loooooooove the Olympics, esp the winter ones. I favour the biathlon, cross country and ski jumping. Luckily those events take place early in the Canadian day so I can watch them live here.

Thanks for the cookie Jen and good luck with your guests!

  11. EH: I'm quite lucky in that the only sporty child in my family is youngest daughter and she's a gymnast so no dirty smelly kit lying around :).

  12. Janna: I'm British so there's not much hope for many medals at the winter Olympics :).

  13. Ingrid: I like the summer Olympics and I'm very much looking forward to 2012.

  14. Um, the Olympics would involve turning on my tv and connecting it to something to bring it a signal, right? *yawn*

What an interesting veri word: bytings. What virtual reality vampires give?

  15. I'm also in something of a blogging black hole at the moment. Hoping things will pick up next week.

As for the Winter Olympics I'm usually quite interested in it as it's sports not usually seen that often on British TV. But the coverage doesn't seem that good this time - all on BBC2. Or maybe I keep missing it.

  16. lol My mind is definitely not pure as the driven snow, that's for sure. :)

  17. Hi Lesley
You can get to the WO at any time through the BBC interactive service (red button). You are right though, the rest of it is limited to overnight on BBC2 or a 2 hour highlights programme in the afternoon.

  18. Tracy: Well at least you admit it, lol!
