Janey is speedy indeed - 'tis already been received! Many thanks to both Janey and you, Jen!
ReplyDeleteMy goodness, I have had a lucky 24 hours indeed. :D
Jen, I just finished reading a delightful book that I wonder if you've read? The Larton Chronicles by James Anson - had to order it for cross the Pond, I did. ;) I'm sure it had quite the flurry of popularity last week when Mr J Lanyon mentioned it as a favorite comfort read on his blog.
Hi Chris
ReplyDeleteNo, I haven't read that book. It doesn't appear to be available at Amazon.co.uk except through their marketplace - and no book is worth £30, despite being recommended by Josh Lanyon :).
I bought it directly from the publisher! Even with shipping, it was only about £10.5.
ReplyDeleteDamn. That's my excuse out of the window.
ReplyDelete*sigh*
I've bought the book and it only cost £8.29 incl shipping.
This better be good Chris :).
Oh, how wonderful! I've enabled Jen! YES!!! I guess you'll have to take it up with Josh, too. ;)
ReplyDeleteHere's my initial reviewette draft:
I heard about this delightful m/m romance when Josh Lanyon mentioned on his blog that it was one of his comfort reads. The book is about Robert, an ex-policeman and mystery author who moves to the obscure village of Larton, and Michael, the horse-mad and out of control village "squire". Written in a fabulously understated style that seems quite British indeed to me (Jenre will have to confirm or deny this for me), the book chronicles the ups and downs of building a life together. (Also, all sex occurs entirely offsides and is only referred to in the most discrete terms.) I'd definitely recommend picking this up directly from the publisher and not from Amazon - the price difference is quite significant.
Sounds good, Chris. I shall look forward to reading it.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!
