This is going to be a quickie post today because I'm heading off up to Scotland for a family event. I've had a pretty dull but busy week anyway so there's not actually much to report, unless you're really that interested that I broke my tooth eating an apple. No? I didn't think so :).
My Reading Week
Other than the three reviews I've done here this week - Whistling in the Dark by Tamara Allen; Lucky Moon 2: The Luckiest by MJ O'Shea and Piper Vaughn; and Frat Boy and Toppy by Anne Tenino - I've only read one other book.
Brook Street: Thief by Ava March
I really like Ava March's historicals and wish I had the time to catch up on the ones I've missed. I know I've got at least two others in my TBR pile *sigh*. Anyway this was a great novella which spanned the social classes of the Regency era. Benjamin is the youngest son of a Lord who decides that he's going to try an exclusive sort of gambling den for a gentleman of particular tastes. He thinks he's gay but needs to act on it before he can throw away any notion of finding a nice lady to settle down with. At the club he meets Cavin who proves once and for all that Benjamin is definitely gay. Unfortunately unbeknownst to Benjamin, Cavin is a thief. I really liked both characters in this story and thought that the author had done a good job in keeping my sympathies with Cavin. Benjamin is a sweetheart and I enjoyed seeing everything eventually work out for him and Cavin. Recommended for those who like gay Regency historicals, which I must admit I have rather a soft spot for. I'm now trying to resist buying the next book in the series! Grade: Excellent.
I've not even read any extra shorts this week either, only the ones I reviewed at BER. Those were: The Walls Have Ears by Erica Pike; Experimental Repeatability by Elinor Gray; I'm Not Sexy and I Know It by Vic Winter; and Crooked by Missouri Dalton. Please do pop over to BER and read those and the other fabbo reviews that were posted this week.
Next Week
Lots of fun stuff coming up next week. I shall be reviewing Handle With Care by Josephine Myles on Tuesday and then the lady herself will be popping by with a guest post on Thursday where she'll be talking about her love of the first person narrator. On Wednesday I shall review Hell's Dog Squadron by AR Moler and then on Friday I shall be back with the round up again, hopefully with a few more books than this week!
Have a great weekend, everyone. Think of me getting wet in Inverness :).

Thanks Anne :). The tooth is all fixed. I got an appointment with my lovely dentist for the next day and it was an easy patch up job *phew*. Not too expensive either!
DeletePhew indeed! That's a relief :))
DeleteGlad to hear that the tooth was dealt with quickly! :) Hope you have a dry time in Scotland!
ReplyDeleteWell, your BER reviews inspired me to read the College Fun & Gays series and the Vic Winter short this week. :D
Yay! Success :).
DeleteScotland was not dry. It rained a lot on the way there and then all day Saturday :(.
Have a great time in Scotland! I can't wait to read The Walls Have Ears - I think I need to put that higher up in the ole TBR. :)
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed The Walls Have Ears, Tracy. This author is one who could end up being a favourite.
