Weekly Round Up

No reason for this pic except that it made me laugh out loud!

Phew have I been busy these last couple of weeks! So much so that this blog has been a little neglected - sorry about that, but such is life.  I've had my birthday and the twin's birthday, plus my Grandma's funeral and school holidays. It's back to the routine now, but I still feel like I'm playing catch up.

My Reading Week

Nothing. Again! Actually, I did start a book, got about half way through and then DNF. It just wasn't working out for me and since it was a book that I had bought, I didn't feel the need to push on and finish it the same as I would a book for review.

Wave's site is being moved to a new server, so I had no review for her this week. Instead, I reviewed the very good Fifteen Shades of Gay (for Pay) by T Baggins. I also have a review of Need by Todd Gregory to do which I think I'll do tomorrow.

Last week SL Armstrong stopped by to write a very thoughtful post about Casual Prejudice. It's here if you missed it.

Next Week

On Tuesday I have a guest post by Joshua Skye. He's here as part of a tour to promote his book The Angels of Autumn and will be talking about Finding the GLBTQ Voice in Speculative Fiction.  I'll also have a review of Double Up by Lissa Matthews and Gleams of a Remoter World by Fiona Glass.

My review pile is getting out of hand again and is over 10 books long at the moment. This will take me into January next year! I don't want to have the pressure of reviewing an extra book each week - although I did it last week. Some people might think that doing three reviews a week - or more! - is fine, but I find I get stressed out if I take on too much. I promised myself that when I reopened the blog nearly two years ago after a break, I wouldn't allow it to take over my life as it had done previously, and so far I've been getting the balance OK. I'll never be a huge or busy blog - I don't have the time for that - so I'll just keep plodding on and if the review list gets any longer, I'll shut the review lists down again for a while.

Now I'm off to have a rest. Today is my delayed birthday treat day where I slob about and do nothing - on my actual birthday I had to entertain the kids and do housework because I had guests coming over so this is a day just for me.  Time to relax!
