One such lovely person, Kris, sent me a package this week filled with Caromello Koalas and another yummy confectionery called Cherry Ripe. I'm afraid I've eaten quite a number of them which is not helping the fact that I can't quite yet fit into the dress I want to wear for a family party next month. Ooops.
My Reading Week
Rehearsals for the pantomime have cut terribly into my reading week so it's a bit of a poor showing, I'm afraid:
Almost an Equal by Heather Boyd
This was a pretty good historical which was a little too OK homo for me at times, especially given the setting of Regency London. Still, it was an entertaining, rather angsty tale with a sweet bite to it and passed the time quite nicely. Grade: Good.
Knight Errant by KD Sarge
A highly entertaining sci fi story with a very young MC (Taro's only 16) but still managed to work for me. Lots of fun and adventure mixed in with rampaging teenage hormones, young love, an excellent if terrifying character in Taro's 'sister' Eve and a great ensemble cast of mix matched characters. Terrific stuff. Grade: Excellent.
I've done two reviews here this week of the fabulous Scrap Metal by Harper Fox and the good Scar Tissue by GL Roberts. I've also done four reviews over at Brief Encounters: Want, Love, Need by Mike Shade; Brass Knuckles and Silk Sheets by Vic Winter; Reflections by Barry Brennessel and Playing Doctor by SL Armstrong & K Piet. There are also lots of other great short story reviews over there so do check us out!
Things are a bit mixed up (again) next week because I've got a guest post by the lovely and talented Jordan Castillo Price who will be coming on Wednesday to blog about 'Going with the Flow of a Vote Driven Story'. I've got a review coming up of More Than Chemistry by Kate Sherwood, which will be on Thursday and another review I haven't decided on yet :). Then I'll do my best to get the weekly round up done on time!
Have a great weekend everyone. We've had lovely, very warm weather here (20C, very unusual for March) but that's now cooled down, just in time for the weekend and there's talk of snow next week. Crazy weather!
